One of our network dentists in Mexico recently made a comment that I thought we should share, as I would think that most people would not be aware of this fact...
Did you know that poor care of your teeth could lead to a higher risk in developing health ailments such as Diabetes http://www.ada.org/public/media/videos/minute/treat_diabetes_broadband.wmv, pregnancy defects http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=9722704, obesity http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12512884, heart disease http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8471920, etc?
Now, I can tell you that usually I meet a doctor that specializes in a certain field and figure that they may find ways to relate all health ailments to their field studies (not sure if this is just me or all of you), however upon doing some research - I found that he is absolutely correct!
Further, I found that since what happens in your mouth can affect your overall health risks, all materials that are used to put in your mouth by dentists (according to the American Dental Association) have to be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for your protection.
So, if you are curious about some type of dental product either being used or that will be used in your mouth, try searching the US Food and Drug Administration's website at http://www.fda.gov/.
